The Mooney Mooney Chapel

The Mooney Mooney Chapel is managed by a group of local volunteers. The Chapel is a non-denominational venue available to hire for weddings, funerals, and other type of events and private functions. In recent years the Chapel has hosted community events including live music. Venue hire for weddings and funerals is a flat rate of $350. Hire rates for other types of use may be negotiable.

Hirers are welcome to bring their own celebrant to conduct religious or non-religious services. We have a local celebrant, Julie Dominish of Picaluna & Bushland Shire Funerals, who comes highly recommended.

Bushland Shire Funerals works in partnership with Picaluna Funerals.  Picaluna is a network of independent Funeral Directors working to create more authentic, compassionate and affordable funerals.

Bushland Shire Funerals do things differently.  A funeral doesn't have to follow a formula and they will work with families to create meaningful farewells of all shapes and sizes and in special locations. They offer guidance and support every step of the way. Their approach is authentic, transparent and compassionate. They will meet with you, at your place of comfort to begin the arrangement process.

Julie Dominish is the funeral director and the funeral celebrant for Bushland Shire Funerals - the same person assisting you through a difficult time. Julie has been connected to the Brooklyn and Mooney communities over many years through The Salvation Army Homeless program and as the practice manager of the Brooklyn GP Unit. She lives locally at Hornsby Heights and is passionate about caring for her local community with end of life care.

Julie Dominish is also a registered and experienced wedding celebrant.
